MAF is able to provide a safe, reliable medical evacuation service from the many locations in Tanzania without appropriate medical care.
Our Cessna Caravan is able to fly in most weather conditions. It also comes equipped with an approved aero-medical stretcher and medical equipment. We do not employ or provide medical doctors but will utilise medical staff who are already involved in the emergency.

When a runaway passenger train with over 1000 people on board collided with a freight train only 30 miles from Dodoma in June 2002, MAF Tanzania quickly decided that it should help the many critically injured passengers that were located at both Mpwapwa and Dodoma hospitals.
MAF personnel based in Dodoma worked with local doctors to decide which patients needed to be transported to Muhimbili Hospital in Dar-es-Salaam. While rescue workers struggled to cope, five of MAF’s planes, one of them coming from Kenya, flew life saving airlifts. Critical spinal injuries where flown directly from Mpwapwa while the remaining patients were transported from Dodoma.
Each flight was able to accommodate up to four stretcher patients, four sitting patients and an escort. Over the evacuation period MAF transported over 50 seriously injured patients.
